Location

Recke, with a population of around 11,000, is located in the northern Münsterland on the Mittelland Canal in the district of Steinfurt. County and municipal roads connect Recke with the federal highway 11 km away. Ibbenbüren, Rheine and Osnabrück can be reached by car in 15, 25 and 30 minutes respectively. Local public transport offers a direct connection to Osnabrück in approx. 30 minutes with the S10 express bus line. Recke is also connected to the Tecklenburger Nordbahn, which is to be reactivated in the future due to its economic viability in the Westphalia-Lippe regional public transport plan.

The municipality offers an excellent infrastructure. Daycare centers, primary and secondary schools as well as the Fürstenberg grammar school make Recke particularly attractive for young families.
