Just a few minutes' drive to the city center, a few hours' flight to all continents

The city, which was first mentioned in the 14th century, has a good 51,000 inhabitants and is located in the midst of generous nature reserves and many bodies of water south of the Lüneburg Heath and northwest of Hanover. It takes just under 10 kilometers or a good 20 minutes by car to get to the city center. In addition, Langenhagen has excellent connections to various transportation networks, such as the Hanover suburban train and light rail system, the A 2 and A 352 highways, and the B 522 trunk road. Long-distance trains run from the Langenhagen Mitte train station to Hamburg and all of northern Germany, and the Hanover-Langenhagen Airport, which opened in 1952, provides access to vacation destinations all over the world. Economically, Langenhagen is just as well positioned as it is geographically and in terms of infrastructure. Numerous globally active companies from the fields of aviation, logistics and distribution as well as trade, fashion and marketing have settled locally and in the four municipal industrial estates; CD and DVD production as well as special mechanical engineering, measuring and testing technology also play a major role. Since the territorial reform of 1974, the city has consisted of the districts and settlements of Alt-Langenhagen, Langenhagen-Mitte, Langenforth, Brink, Engelbostel, Godshorn, Kaltenweide, Krähenwinkel, Kananohe, Kiebitzkrug, Schulenburg, Altenhorst, Hainhaus, Maspe and Twenge. Many of the once independent communities have retained their quiet and partly village character despite the great urban dynamics. Nevertheless, the location and development of Langenhagen make the city an increasingly popular and thus also more expensive real estate location.

The city is not the cheapest, but offers many advantages and good accessibility

Especially since 2011, prices for apartments and houses of all sizes in Langenhagen have risen quite sharply; the current average purchase price of almost 2,200 euros/m² is only slightly below the national average of slightly more than 2,400 euros/m², and for houses between 100 and 200 m² in size with roughly the same price per square meter, it is already above the national level. Decisive for this is of course the spatial proximity to the capital of Lower Saxony, where there has been a real boom for several years with strong demand and prices of at least 100 to 200 euros more per square meter than in Langenhagen.
There, however, prices are currently still lower than in the neighboring towns of Isernhagen (approx. 2,300/2,200 euros/m²) and Burgwedel (approx. 2,800/2,400 euros/m²); only in the neighboring municipality of Wedemark to the north are there even more favorable offers with prices around 2,000 euros/m². Prices are also lower in Garbsen (approx. 1,700/1,800 euros/m²) and Neustadt am Rübenberge (approx. 1,400/1,600 euros/m²) as well as Seelze (approx. 1,600/1,800 euros/m²), although some of these cities and municipalities are also somewhat further away from Hannover. This also applies in a similar way to the remaining residential areas bordering the metropolis on the Leine, such as Lehrte, Sehnde, Laatzen, Pattensen, Hemmingen and Ronnenberg, which all have an approximate price structure of only between 1,500 and 1,800 euros/m², but do not offer quite as many advantages as Langenhagen
.

Green nature, diverse culture, active sports and numerous cheerful celebrations

As already indicated above, the city presents itself not only as an economic and traffic-favorable shining place of residence, also the surrounding nature together with its versatile leisure possibilities make Langenhagen an attractive investment location for investors or owner-occupiers. For example, the two local nature reserves Kananoher Forst and Kaltenweider Moor as well as the Bissendorfer Moor around the small Muswillensee lake are ideal hiking areas and wildlife observation areas. A very popular local recreation area in summer is also Silver Lake, which was artificially created in the 1930s and covers almost 7 hectares. On its shores, visitors will also find shallow water zones, three sandy beaches, sunbathing lawns, various playground equipment, a miniature golf course, a restaurant, toilet facilities and a kiosk with a beer garden. Other bathing lakes in the area are the Waldsee and the Wietzepark landscape park with its bathing beach. Relaxing walks are also possible in the city park, in the oak park, in the Brinker park, in the green area "in den Heestern" and at the small mountain Wietzeblick. The "Neue Bult" racecourse, on the other hand, is devoted entirely to natural and mounted horsepower, where racing days are held regularly from spring to fall, and in the Maspe district there are regular international polo and eventing tournaments. Also sporty are the home games of the ice hockey team "Hannover Scorpions" in the Langenhagen ice rink. The best-attended and best-known festivals and celebrations in Langenhagen are the cabaret and theater festival "Mimuse", the town festival on the market square in July, the shooting match in August, the art and creative market in Kaltenweide in February, the culinary-cultural bike tour "FahrKulTour" in May and September and the jazz matinees in the town hall courtyard in July and August.
