This sophisticated hotel has been welcoming guests to the monastery town since 1774. The foundation walls of the half-timbered building are older and date back to the construction of the Cistercian monastery in Walkenried.
The imposing façade was renovated in 2019 in keeping with its listed status.
The two-storey half-timbered building has guest rooms and hotel rooms that leave nothing to be desired.
On the first floor is the bright, friendly foyer with the sandstone cellar portal and wine cellar from 1774 and the entrances to the restaurant, the large ballroom with stage, the salon and the lounge.
The fully equipped catering kitchen with scullery and cold store is also located on this level. Equipped with modern appliances such as convection ovens, tilting frying pan, refrigerated table with 8 draws, dishwasher etc. 8 gas burners, plate warming cabinet, stainless steel furniture, bain-marie, induction stove etc. etc.
The light-flooded restaurant offers approx. 32 seats depending on the table arrangement and has a beautiful, fully functional vintage-style bar counter.
The highlight of the large ballroom is the stage that can be used for performances. With seating for up to 90 people, it can also be used for large banquets.
The English-style salon is suitable for social gatherings of house guests in the evening or for small parties.
In the rustic lounge you can enjoy a glass of whiskey and smoke a cigar.
The 14 guest rooms on the 1st and 2nd floors can be reached via a wide wooden staircase.
All rooms are fully and modernly furnished.
On the 2nd floor there is also a separate apartment with a large living room, bedroom and bathroom as well as two small, private guest rooms, e.g. for the landlords.
The public areas, corridors and rooms were extensively renovated and refurnished during the corona pandemic. New, smooth floor coverings and virus-inhibiting wall paints (washable) were used. The sale also includes elegant hygiene dispensers and a variety of high-quality air purifiers in various performance levels adapted to the rooms. The hotel also has a digital locking system from Burgwächter, which enables contactless check-in for guests. Wi-Fi amplifiers are installed throughout the building to ensure a fast network for guests and the necessary computer and administrative tasks for hoteliers.
Guests also have access to an outdoor seating area with 30 seats in front of the hotel and the cute courtyard with around 40 outdoor seats. The courtyard is successfully run as the "Hofcafe Sommerwölkchen" during the summer months and is a popular meeting place for the villagers.
All facilities for the café are already available.
Of course, the necessary TSE-compatible modern computer cash registers and a pager system are also available for hotel and restaurant operations as well as for the café.
The hotel has two spacious garages and five parking spaces for cars. Guests can also park free of charge outside the hotel's own parking spaces directly behind the hotel on the quiet, safe Pfarrplatz.
Spacious cellar rooms offer space for everything that is not needed during operation or for extended storage. The beer cooling cellar, the barrel chute and the building's heating system are also located here. This is a condensing gas heating system from Vaillant, which was newly installed in 2021.

The municipality of Walkenried consists of the three villages Walkenried, Wieda and Zorge and is located in the southern Harz region.
