The direct S-Bahn connection to Hamburg, which is already under construction, is scheduled to go into operation in 2028.
Young families in particular are drawn to this small town. Kaltenkirchen has various crèches, kindergartens and all types of schools. The town also offers a wide range of leisure and shopping facilities. The Holsten-Therme, an adventure pool with a large sauna world, is very popular beyond the city limits. A wide range of club activities, hiking trails and the Kaltenkirchen leisure park provide plenty of variety.
