Small thatched-roof paradise from a private owner // A collector's item
23820 Pronstorf – Schleswig-HolsteinAn oasis of calm
The house is one of four existing former farm workers' houses built around 1900 with thatched roofs. The small cul-de-sac that ends at the house is on the north side of the house. The landscape conservation area extends to the west (development not permitted).
Inside
The eastern half of the house was completely gutted in the early 1980s and new (higher) half-timbered walls were raised inside, on which a new ceiling and roof construction rests. The three old outer walls were left standing.
The western half was demolished and rebuilt in the early 1990s and the outer walls were clinkered with old bricks. The renovation was carried out using organic materials.
On the ground floor, there is a checkroom and a visitors' WC at the entrance, a central hallway, an office room with a fireplace and a view and access to the garden, a guest room and a small bathroom.
The tiled stove is heated from the hallway, providing additional warmth for the two rooms downstairs and the bedroom upstairs on cold winter days.
The open, underfloor-heated living room with a kitchen block and a gallery above it generously occupies the western part of the house. An open fireplace invites you to spend cozy evenings by the fire.
From the gallery on the upper floor, a passageway with built-in wardrobes leads to the bedroom and the adjoining bathroom, above which there is a gallery with small skylights in the ridge.
Outside
The south-facing, enchanted garden is filled with birdsong and, depending on the season, chirping crickets and croaking frogs and offers a wide view over the adjacent meadows and fields, from where you can often hear cranes calling or see sea eagles circling. Surrounded by the scent of old and English roses, the bench under the pergola by the pond invites you to relax, read or chat, while the walnut and chestnut trees provide shade on hot days after sunbathing on the terrace. The cozy sunset dining area turns social gatherings into something special. There is a basketball court at the back of the large lawn.
The brick garage on the neighboring property boundary was built in 1983, while the former pigsty next to it serves as a wooden shed.
