Schneverdingen is traditionally oriented towards Hamburg. Many working people commute to Hamburg every day. Schneverdingen is also sometimes referred to as the southernmost tip of the "Hamburg bacon belt". This affiliation is also supported by the fact that the train station in Schneverdingen has now been connected to the HVV (Hamburg Transport Association).
