The design of the façade is reminiscent of the Wilhelminian era - windows, doors and numerous details of the four-storey building skillfully reflect this era. The original year of construction, 1907, has been discreetly incorporated into the exterior wall with stucco ornamentation - painting is planned for 2024. The property is not a listed building, meaning that the future owner can implement individual structural ideas and exploit project development potential. The privately offered investment property is known from the book "La Comtesse de Bombyx Mori" (published by Amazon), which describes the legend of the silk moth of the same name. Krefeld is a large city on the left bank of the Lower Rhine. The independent city in the administrative district of Düsseldorf is also known as the "velvet and silk city" due to its silk fabric production in the 18th and 19th centuries. This is a direct reference to its former importance in the textile industry.
The remnants of this successful era are still visible today, particularly in the architecture. Over 25 Bauhaus members lived and worked in Krefeld from the 1920s to the 1960s, including well-known representatives of the school such as its last director Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, the head of the extension class Lilly Reich and the founder of the preliminary course Johannes Itten. But other well-known architects of their time have also left their mark on the city. To this day, Krefeld is therefore not only the city with an impressive history of silk and velvet, but also an architectural jewel among German cities.

With a population of around 227,500, Krefeld ranked 14th among the major cities in North Rhine-Westphalia at the end of 2019. The regional center is part of the Rhine-Ruhr metropolitan region and the Rhineland metropolitan region.
