Between 1927 and 1937, more than 500 three-storey apartments were built on the eponymous Paddenpuhl, which is technically only a rainwater collection basin but nevertheless makes a significant contribution to the design of the green spaces as a small lake. The architect Fritz Beyer played a key role in the urban planning concept and designed the first houses built in the 1920s.
