Lago Laprello:
Lieck is located on two lakes, Lago Laprello, which is known far beyond Heinsberg, and Horster See. Lago Laprello attracts many visitors all year round. After all, the lake, named after the entrepreneur Laprell, who mined gravel here, offers both locals and tourists a relaxing change of pace. The camper van site is open all year round. At the lake there is a vacation home settlement, pedal boat and rowing boat hire, canoes, a cult pub, playgrounds and a sandy beach with a fenced-off bathing area. Nature observation and adventure opportunities and benches, some of which are even interestingly illuminated in the evening, invite you to linger and relax. You can even get married by the lake. The smaller brother Horster See:
Special attention should also be paid to Lago Laprello's little brother, the approximately one-hectare Horster See, which is somewhat hidden and enchanted next to it. It is known for its lake festival, which invites visitors to dance, listen to music and watch fireworks for three days every year at Whitsun. The summer festival, which attracts visitors from near and far, is organized by the Horster See fishing club with a great deal of dedication and commitment from the club members and their families.

Other attractive sports options include tennis - for which the TC RW Lieck is known - badminton and squash (both indoor and outdoor). Lieck is also known for its soccer. The 1st FC Heinsberg Lieck scores its goals in the lakeside stadium. And the people of Lieck are particularly proud of their first team, which is finally back in the district league. The customs sports club also makes enthusiastic use of the attractive sports facility by the lake. The St. Martinus shooting fraternity is also active in Lieck with its own shooting range.

Franconian settlement:
The oldest building in the district is the Lieck mill, originally the Aldenhover mill. It is also the oldest of the many mills in the area and was first mentioned in 1170. It was a watermill on the young Wurm, which disappeared in the course of the straightening of the river in the 1960s and 1970s.

The roots of the district itself are just as old as the Lieck mill. The first traces of Lieck go back to the settlement at Liecker Mühle, which was established in Frankish times, more than 1000 years ago.

Before the village was given the name "Lieck", for whatever reason, the settlement was called "Aldenhoven", with the typical "-hoven" ending, as with Kirchhoven or Aphoven.
Kirchhoven, to whose municipality Lieck used to belong, is seamlessly connected to the north-west. Both districts jointly founded the Kirchhoven-Lieck local ring in 1960.
