Location
The small town of Norden is located in the very northwest of East Frisia and has a population of around 25,000. In addition to the town center, Norden also includes the districts of Tidofeld, Bargebur, Norddeich, Süderneuland and the predominantly rural districts of Süderneuland II, Westermarsch I, Westermarsch II, Ostermarsch, Neuwesteel and Leybuchtpolder. The town center itself is divided into various districts, such as Norden-Neustadt, Martensdorf and Vierzig Diemat.
Although Norden is a relatively small town, it offers residents and visitors a good infrastructure. There are numerous catering establishments such as restaurants and various interesting sights. The latter include the historic buildings around Norden's market square and the imposing Ludgeri Church.
Tidofeld has been an independent district of the East Frisian town of Norden since 1996 and has around 1000 inhabitants (end of 2016) spread over an area of just 0.47 km². The district is completely integrated into the town center. Until 1952, Tidofeld was part of the municipality of Lütetsburg.
Stores for everyday needs are of course available and a nearby bus stop offers quick and easy access to the Norder city center or to Hage.
Further shopping opportunities can be found in the center of North Norder, which is around two kilometers away from the north-western edge of the town. This distance may seem a little far for some people, but on closer inspection it is put into perspective. It is possible for healthy people to reach the city center from any point in the center of North Norder, even on a long walk. If you use a bicycle, it hardly takes more than five minutes to get from Tidofeld to the city center. In conclusion, it can be said that the quality of life in this part of Norden is very high.
