The market town of Frontenhausen is charmingly situated in the scenic Vils valley. The Vils takes a romantic meander through Frontenhausen and wanders through the Middle Vils Valley recreation area. The Vilstalsee lake, five kilometers away, with its facilities makes a significant contribution to local recreation and tourism. Frontenhausen meets all social, cultural and economic requirements. In addition to the primary and
school, Frontenhausen also has a kindergarten and a nursing home. The town is growing steadily towards the south thanks to the targeted development of residential areas. There is also a lot of commercial activity in Frontenhausen. Nearby large companies such as BMW in Dingolfing and Mann & Hummel in Marklkofen provide secure employment.

"Kaisersc­hmarrndrama" brings Eberhofer fever to Frontenhausen
The tranquil Lower Bavarian town of Frontenhausen has become famous practically overnight as the setting for the Eberhofer thrillers. As more and more film tourists visit the location, the market town in the district of Dingolfing-Landau is now breaking new ground.

Film tourists now come from all over Germany, Austria and Switzerland to see the film locations and the Franz Eberhofer traffic circle - the most famous traffic circle in German film history. The tourism association of Eastern Bavaria even speculates that it is "probably the most famous traffic circle in Germany". In the meantime, village policeman Franz Eberhofer and his buddy Rudi Birkenberger are immortalized in steel on the traffic circle.
