Groß Zicker is a small village on Mönchgut that has existed since the 12th century. A large number of the old houses are listed buildings and time seems to have stood still in Groß Zicker. A historic harbour and magnificent farm gardens characterize the quaint village. Situated in the Southeast Rügen Biosphere Reserve, on the Greifswald Bodden and at the foot of the Zicker Mountains, the former fishing village with its unique atmosphere attracts nature lovers and those seeking peace and quiet. The "Zicker Alps", which are part of the Southeast Rügen Biosphere Reserve, begin directly behind the house. Along fragrant herb meadows and bleating sheep, you can reach the 66-metre-high Bakenberg, which offers a breathtaking view of large parts of the island and the mainland, where you can enjoy an indescribable view far across the sea to the island of Usedom and the traditional town of Greifswald. The villages on Mönchgut have preserved many traditions and cherish them like a treasure. Many lovingly reconstructed fishermen's, sailors' and captain's houses characterize the place with their cane roofs.
