Hemmingen - Wilkenburg is located on the eastern edge of the Calenberger Land region to the south of Hanover. It is only 8 km to the city center and only 4 km to the Maschsee or exhibition grounds. To the east is the Leinemasch with the "Alte Leine" nature reserve. There are several ponds in the Wilkenburg district that were created by gravel mining, such as Schragesee and Steinfeldsee. The Seniebach also has its source in Wilkenburg. Via the L 389, there are cycle path connections to Hanover - Wülfel and Arnum (here connection to the B3) as well as to Hemmingen - Westerfeld and Hanover - Dören and via the K 222 to Harkenbleck.
