Dargun is an independent rural town in the north of the Mecklenburg Lake District in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. The town is a basic center and administers itself independently.

The idyllic landscape with lots of woodland, the Darguner See lake bordering the town center and the nearby Kummerower See lake offer numerous leisure activities such as hiking, cycling and water sports. The town of Dargun is the northern gateway to the Mecklenburg Switzerland Nature Park and Lake Kummerow.
The Darguner Brauerei GmbH, EcoNautic Systems GmbH (mechanical engineering) and PED GmbH (automation, electrotechnical plant equipment) are well-known as interesting business locations. There are also numerous medium-sized companies.
Dargun is located on the B 110 federal highway between Gnoien and Demmin and on the B 20 state highway to Malchin. The nearest highway junction A20 Bad Sülze is about 25 km away.
Dargun does not have a rail connection. The nearest train station is Demmin, around 15 km away. Local public transport offers sufficient fixed or individual (on-call bus) bus connections.
The Baltic Sea, the Müritz, larger towns, museums, various parks and much more are all within easy reach.
