Location
Ötisheim is situated in a scenic location at the foothills of the Stromberg and in the immediate vicinity of the towns of Mühlacker, Maulbronn and Pforzheim. Since the end of the 19th century, the Stuttgart-Mannheim railroad line or, to put it more generously, the Amsterdam-Constantinople line has run through the municipality and has also contributed to its upswing. Until a few years ago, you could still see a train speeding through here every few minutes, but this has changed fundamentally in the meantime due to the construction of the new line and also due to thinning-out measures by the railroad. Since 1999, Ötisheim has been a stop on the newly established S9 light rail line between Bretten and Mühlacker. From here, it is now possible to travel to the neighboring medium-sized towns every hour, and from there to practically anywhere in the world via transfer connections.
Thanks to the bypass completed in August 1993 as part of the state road 1132, inter-urban traffic no longer has to "bump through" the town as it used to, but is now elegantly routed around Ötisheim.
As part of the town center redevelopment, the municipality was also able to redesign its town center with the market square and Pfleghofplatz.
A favorable traffic route between the Enz Valley, through which an old Roman road led to Pforzheim, and the old merchant road from Stuttgart via Vaihingen and Bretten to Frankfurt, had a lasting and advantageous influence on the development of the town centuries ago. However, this transportation advantage also had devastating consequences for the village, which lies directly on the old Baden-Württemberg border, during the war years.
Ötisheim has a favorable climate. In this climatically balanced zone, good and efficient agriculture has been maintained to this day, while viticulture also plays a certain role in the "Sauberg".
