Location
Klingenmünster is a local community in the district of Südliche Weinstraße in Rhineland-Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality of Bad Bergzabern and is a state-recognized resort. The wine village is located on the German Wine Route, around five kilometers north of Bad Bergzabern.
The municipality lies on the Haardtrand, the transitional area between the Rhine plain and the Palatinate Forest. To the west of the village rises the Treutelsberg at an altitude of 357 meters. The Klingbach stream flows through Klingenmünster in a west-easterly direction. The municipality also includes the residential areas of Frauenlob (Wagmühle), Kaiserbacher Mühle (Talmühle), Klingbachhof, Magdalenenhof and Sägemühle.
Klingenmünster is a traditional wine-growing village and part of the Palatinate wine-growing region. The single vineyard Maria Magdalena with an area of 186.26 hectares belongs to the large vineyard Kloster Liebfrauenberg. In addition to viticulture, the Palatinate Clinic for Psychiatry and Neurology and tourism play an important role in the local economy.
Klingenmünster is connected to the main road (Bundesstraße 48), which is identical to the German Wine Route in this area. State road 493 leads west to Vorderweidenthal and east to Hördt. Public transport connections are provided by bus routes 524 (Albersweiler-Pfalzklinikum), 531 (Landau-Annweiler) and 540 (Landau-Bad Bergzabern).
Places of interest in Klingenmünster include Landeck Castle, the remains of Klingenmünster Abbey and St. Michael's Church. Several hiking and cycling trails also run through the municipality, including the German Wine Route cycle path and the Klingbach cycle path.
